Venato
Defi Position Tracker on Ethereum
Overview
Venato is a purpose-built analytics engine that reconstructs and analyzes DeFi portfolios on Ethereum. It provides users and institutions with detailed visibility into their historical and real-time positions across decentralized finance protocols. The platform excels at tracking complex multi-platform strategies, resolving fragmented LP exposure, and calculating accurate portfolio-level P&L over time.
Key Capabilities
Venato’s architecture unifies disparate wallet data into a clean general ledger, making it easy to understand both present-day positions and historical transactions. It allows users to manually amend transactions, select or override exchange rate sources, and customize method attributions for trades. Crowdsourced validation, open-source data processors, and a token-incentivized data admin model ensure that every element of portfolio reconstruction is verifiable and auditable.
Platform Features
The platform includes a full profit and loss (P&L) engine, multi-wallet tracking, DeFi ledger reconciliation, and data mining tools to evaluate strategy performance across time. Designed with extensibility in mind, Venato offers an API-based B2B data feed for institutional partners, enabling integrations for tax tooling, compliance, DAO dashboards, and DeFi asset managers. The engine is backed by a community of data admins, who are rewarded with VNT tokens for contributing verified reference data and correcting missing metadata.
Frontend Interface
The frontend is built in Angular and designed for usability, speed, and clarity. It provides a multi-wallet portfolio view with deep historical balance tracking, real-time position snapshots, and detailed P&L breakdowns across DeFi protocols. Users can inspect individual transaction paths, override reference data, and contribute to the crowdsourced attribution process directly from the interface. A streamlined onboarding flow and modular UI components make the platform accessible for both retail DeFi users and institutional clients needing compliance-grade reporting.

Technical Implementation
The backend is written in .NET Core using C#, with services structured into domain-driven modules and deployed via Docker. Data is stored in a hybrid SQL Server and SQLite setup, enabling both scalable backend performance and lightweight distribution. CI/CD is managed via Jenkins, and blockchain indexing is performed using Ethereum RPCs and archival nodes. The system also integrates with external APIs such as Etherscan for contract-level metadata and pricing information.

Acquisition
Venato's core software was acquired by a prominent on-chain data company based in the United States, marking a successful exit for the project and validation of its technological approach to DeFi position tracking. The acquiring firm is now integrating Venato’s modules into its institutional analytics suite to expand its capabilities in cross-protocol attribution and historical on-chain reporting.
